The Expansion Campaign marks a pivotal moment in MEI's history and has the full support of MEI's leadership, from Board Chairman Richard Clarke and campaign leaders Gail Dady and Louis R. Hughes, to the rest of the 26-member Board of Governors and MEI's President Wendy Chamberlin.

Campaign Leaders: Louis R. Hughes and T. Gail Dady

Louis R. Hughes is chief executive officer of InZero Systems in Herndon, VA that provides security for information technology systems. Previously he held a variety of executive positions with Lockheed Martin, Deutsche Bank, General Motors and Opel in the U.S. and Europe. Between 2004 and 2005, he was the chief of staff of the Afghanistan Reconstruction Group.

Gail Dady is a member of MEI's Board of Governors and has been a partner at DC Capital Partners since the firm’s inception. She has over 20 years of investment experience ranging from investment banking to private equity.

MEI President Wendy J. Chamberlin

Wendy Chamberlin has been president of the Middle East Institute since 2007. As deputy high commissioner for refugees from 2004 to 2007, she supervised the administration of the U.N. humanitarian organization. A 29-year veteran of the U.S. Foreign Service, she was ambassador to Pakistan from 2001 to 2002.

Campaign Director Susan Bastress

Susan Bastress is a Senior Partner at Squire Patton Boggs and a former member of MEI’s Board.  Susan established her law firm’s office in Doha, Qatar and continues to represent clients doing business in the Gulf.
