R.P. is the chief business officer of Zume, revolutionizing logistics and agriculture, founder and chairman of Ergo, an intelligence and advisory firm which serves nations and leading corporations, and CEO of Four Rivers, a South East Asian investment firm. He is the co-author of Warnings: Finding Cassandras to Stop Catastrophes, a Best Seller published by HarperCollins, and chairman of the annual Cassandra Award Foundation, which gives voice to ignored but highly credibly warnings of catastrophe. Foreign Policy Magazine noted him as one of the U.S.'s 100 "most esteemed terrorism and national security experts.”
R.P. served as director at the White House National Security Council, chief of staff to the US Ambassador to the UN Richard Holbrooke, and was a member of the State Department Senior Executive Service. As senior advisor to Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson, R.P. helped oversee the intelligence, counterintelligence and security of the U.S. nuclear weapons complex. Later, as a UN diplomat, R.P. served as senior policy officer to the UN Secretary-General and was an architect of the Global Fund to Prevent AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. At that time, Secretary-General Kofi Annan and the United Nations were awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for their work on HIV.
The World Economic Forum at Davos honored R.P. as a “Global Leader for Tomorrow.” He is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the board of the Middle East Institute, founder of the Center for Policing Terrorism which advised the NYPD and LAPD after 9/11, co-chairman of the Mayor of Los Angeles’s Advisory Board on Counterterrorism, and was an associate at Harvard University.
R.P. has testified in front of the U.S. Congress, and contributed to major media including PBS "Charlie Rose," CNN, CBS Nightly News, Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, and The Sunday Times of London. He has been a producer on jazz albums which have won three Grammys.
R.P. has a B.Sc in Neuroscience from Brown University.
